Atlanta Took the Lead in Their Champions League Debut in the 27th Minute

After scoring two amazing goals in Injury Time, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) defeated Atalanta 2-1, making it their first UEFA Champions League semi-finals in 25 years. At the Estadio da Luz Stadium on Wednesday night, Atlanta took the lead in their Champions League debut in the 27th minute when Mario Pasalic shot a beautiful shot from a spilled ball at the entrance to the area, Shinhwa News reported.

Paris Saint-Germain an Amazing comeback

On Wednesday, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) scored an amazing comeback with two injury-time goals to get Atlanta out of the ongoing Champions League in the quarterfinals. The victory made the French team the first ever semifinal in Europe’s best club competition.

During their Champions League debut season, Italian team Atlanta took the lead early at the Estadio da Rouge Stadium with Mario Pa Salic Goal. However, PSG broke their dream of taking the top four at the moment of their dying, with Marquinhos and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting scoring in just four minutes of strike time.

PSG wasn’t a scorer, but the decisive action of strikers Kylian Mbappe and Neymar only survived the last minute. The first half gave Atalanta the advantage of offensive behavior after scoring, as they pressed for the ball on the opposing field.

PSG’s response came through a well-designed and quick counterattack, which unfortunately provided at least three clear opportunities for Neymar, who missed everything. However, the Brazilian star remained resilient to the end despite the opponent’s harsh markings.

The game became more difficult in the second half and there were a series of yellow cards for both sides. The exhaustion of the completely atypical season put a strain on the physical conditioning of the players, which forced the two coaches to make a lot of substitutions.

Even Keylor Navas, PSG’s experienced goalkeeper, felt a muscle problem and had to replace it. PSG came out of the bench to replace Pablo Sarabia with Mbappe in 60 minutes, and showed varying levels of play in pass combinations against Neymar.

Atalanta’s dream collapsed in the downtime with a difference of 90 minutes from Marquinhos. Neymar freed a shot that hit the defender. When everything seemed to be ahead of extra time, Eric Choupo-Moting took advantage of a combination of Neymar and Mbappe to flip the score at 93 minutes.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all Champions League quarterfinals are played as a single match in Lisbon, not home and away matches as usual.

UEFA Europa League semi-finals on August 18

The possibility of Inter Milan’s forward Alexis Sanchez advancing to the UEFA Europa League semi-finals against Shakhtar Donetsk on August 18 was questioned by injury. The Italian club said Sanchez suffered hamstring tension earlier this week in Inter’s quarterfinal victory against Bayer Leverkusen.

Alexis Sanchez had a medical examination in Duisburg this morning after being injured in a match against Bayer Leverkusen,” the club said in a statement Wednesday. Tests confirmed that he put a strain on the right hamstring. His condition will continue to be reevaluated over the next few days.

The Chilean Forward, who made a permanent transfer from Manchester United to Inter last week alone, made 31 appearances for Inter this season, scoring 4 goals and 11 assists.  Meanwhile, Inter Milan and buyer Leverkusen played in the tiring quarterfinals after scoring three goals in 10 minutes in the first quarter of the match.

The Italian tycoons struck the German team 2-1 to advance to the final four matches. Romelu Lukaku and Nicolo Barella got ahead of Inter before Kai Havertz regained pride in the team.

Lukaku’s shot was blocked

In the 15th minute, after Lukaku’s shot was blocked, Barella drove the defected ball home, leading Inter. But a Belgian striker, he couldn’t get away from the net because he extended Nerazuri’s lead six minutes later.

Having a strong interest from English Premier League club Chelsea, Haberz made the equation interesting by scoring one point at Leverkusen in the 24th minute.

The UEFA Champions League for the second time

RB Leipzig, who played in the UEFA Champions League for the second time, knocked Atletico Madrid 2-1 for the first time in the tournament semifinals. On Thursday, Xinhua News reported that both sides played conservatively in the first half, but did not create a clear opportunity.

But in the second half of the year, everything changed when the German team returned with new energy and a clear mission in search of a decisive goal. At the 50th minute, Dani Olmo gave RB Leipzig a 1-0 lead, and with the help of Marcel Sabitzer, he recorded a beautiful move.

In need of a draw, Atletico manager Diego Simeone changed his team’s performance against Portugal’s young hope Joao Felix and tied Atletico on the 71st minute of penalty kick.

With both teams looking for a penalty shootout, RB Leipzig midfielder Sabitzer offered a nice pass to Angelino Tasende, who served Tyler Adams at the edge of the region. Adams kicked in the 88th minute and saw the ball miss the net.

RB Leipzig will face Paris Saint-Germain, who defeated Atalanta on Wednesday in the semi-finals scheduled for August 18th.
